Finding a good business idea first starts by knowing where you want to go into business. Do you want to have an online company or do you want to have a traditional brick and mortar business? Traditional brick and mortar businesses simply are not as scalable as the internet which is why I do not recommend them to anyone but I do not frown on anyone wishing to try their luck. With online businesses you have scalability, little to NO risk, and requires less of your time once you get it up and running.

As entrepreneurs we want to have some good business ideas before we jump right into creating a business. So how do we get good business ideas? Do they just pop up in out head? Actually, sometimes… But we do not want to wait for a good idea to come to mind. So that is why we must search for them.

The easiest way to search for good business ideas is to not search for businesses at all. Search for problems that already exist and create something that will solve that problem. That is all a business is. And that is the best way to find good ideas. Some great ways to find problems is to search twitter for keywords such as “hate”, “can’t stand”, “wish there was a”. And you may just find the next million dollar business. By finding these problems and solving them your are creating value, and once you create value the money will find a way.

Doing a search myself on Twitter I found that someone hates when their child does not tell them about their homework due. Which gave me the idea of an online business where teachers in grade school and high school could post homework assignments online for parents to view. That is an excellent idea! Colleges have them, why shouldn’t grade schools and high schools? Finding good business ideas is as simple as that. Search for a problem and solve it.

This is how you create businesses. It is the only way you should create a business unless you are so confident in something that you know people either want or need e.g. Steve Jobs knew what people wanted before they even knew that they wanted it.

So now it’s time to get started finding good business ideas. Go to Twitter and search for keywords that people say when they need / hate something. Find at least 20, write them down and then solve the problem. What’s that? Someone already solved the problem? Well then search for things that particular company is doing wrong and create a business better than theirs. Keep the problems solved and you will have a successful business. Some other great places to find good business ideas are right in front of you. You probably see them everyday on your Facebook page. Have a bunch of friends that seem to always complain about something? Use them to your advantage, and create a business to solve their problem. I bet if you do that you may even have your first customer as soon as your business is created.

Take these simple principles and apply them to everything you do. Not just online but offline as well. There are plenty of good business ideas all around you. I hate how my back get’s really hot while I sleep. I sleep better when I am on my back, but for some reason my body heat builds up tremendously. I am sure I am not the only one this problem, so this is a business opportunity for me or whoever. What if I could create a cooling pad that stayed cool enough to keep you from sweating to death but warm enough to keep you from freezing to death. Sounds impossible?
